The need
Respiratory disorders are the commonest complaint in the stabled horse. This is particularly so amongst horses that are required to do strenuous and fast work such as Eventers, Race Horses and Hunters.
Research has shown that dust and mould, which are present to a varying degrees in all hay, are almost invariably the cause of respiratory problems in horses. The removal of hay from the diet eliminates some 90% of the respiratory irritant. See the
1994 research study by the Equine Research Centre.

However hay is an important part of a horse's diet. Horsehae uses hay with its inherent value to horses and eliminates the harmful contaminants through the combination of top quality hay and a mechanical process of packaging that doesn't allow for the proliferation of dust and mould spores. Horeshae has been tested extensively and contains approximately 12 times less dust than normal good hay.
| Constant inspection of hay guarantees uniform quality during harvest time. Precise humidity control within the hay provides an extremely stable
product. |

The product
Horsehae is a very healthy forage alternative to traditionally made hay. It consists of mature grasses the same as used in hay but which are harvested and packaged with a high moisture content in hermetically sealed bags. This maximizes the freshness and feeding value of the forage while minimizing the presence of dust and mould.
We nourish the soil in our fields.

No chemical fertilizers containing chloride |
 |
No herbicides |
 |
No other additives are used at any stage in the growing or packaging of
Horsehae - 1991 was the last year in which Tri-Forage Farms applied fertilizers to the fields in which Horsehae is grown. |
"Only healthy soil produces healthy hay!"
Horsehae resembles closely the natural diet for horses and is easily digested. Its sweet smell and succulent taste make Horsehae extremely palatable to a horse. Like hay, Horsehae is available in different forage mixtures for special needs in your horse -
Timothy Mix - low protein,
Alfalfa/Timothy Mix - medium protein,
Alfalfa
- high protein,
Meadow Mix - our most wholistic mix

Our lush green meadows are the base of our quality product. From all our healthy grown fields only the best ones are selected for
